Israeli Company Develops Goggles Allowing Surgeons to See Right Through You

CTech – Ever chose “X-ray vision” as your choice of a hypothetical superpower? Israel-based Augmedics Ltd. has developed a set of goggles giving surgeons X-ray-like visualization capabilities.


Augmedics is creating an augmented reality headset for surgical procedures. Called xvision, the headset projects X-ray-like 3D visualization of the patient in real time, allowing surgeons to “see” through the patient’s skin, muscle tissue, and bone.

Youngest burn victims benefit from Israel’s pioneering expertise in CO2 lasers at Sheba Medical Center’s new I-PEARLS Center of Excellence.

 

Mira from Jerusalem was severely burned in a bus fire when she was seven. But despite the loss of an eye, an arm, both ears and most of one foot, six years later Mira is not only alive but smiling.

Recently she became the first patient to be treated in the I-PEARLS (Israel Pediatric Aesthetic and Reconstructive Laser Surgery) Center of Excellence at Sheba Medical Center under the direction of world-renowned burn specialists Josef Haik and Arie Orenstein.

Israel Jumps To 5th Place In 2019 Bloomberg Index Of Most Innovative Countries

Israel surged to 5th place in the newest Bloomberg Innovation Index of 2019, climbing five spots from last year’s index where Israel ranked 10th for the second consecutive year.

The country retained its top spot in the R&D intensity category of the survey and dropped to second place (from first last year) in research concentration.

Winter has arrived full blast in this corner of the Middle East, bringing joy to skiers and snowboarders; headaches for commuters.

Dust storms, torrential rain, snow — and a bit of sunshine, too – are in the mix this week in Israel as January brings unusually wet, cold weather.

The storms, along with colder temperatures in mid-week, are forecast for the entire region stretching from Turkey through Israel to Jordan.
